Ambulance VSL
It would be inaccurate to undervalue the significance of ambulances and light medical vehicles (VSL). They not only rely on hospitals and physicians but also numerous support services who work tirelessly behind-the-scenes to take care of patients.
VSL teams consist of two trained individuals, including their driver. One must hold the Diploma d’Etat d’Ambulancier). VSLs can be recognized by their white upholstery with red cross decals attached and an emergency information panel on top. In addition, several accessories allow patients to access necessary care (regulating breathing rate or controlling bleeding…).
Like VSLs, conventional taxis provide services between patients’ homes and care establishments. One advantage of this mode of transport is its fees being included within CPAM; however, just like VSLs they cannot respond quickly in emergency situations (ie accidents or pregnancies).
